CIW Object-Oriented Analysis and Design

CREDIT TOWARD CERTIFICATION

Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML (IBM 1D0-438 or 1D0-538) is a requirement for the following CIW certifications:

o CIW Certified Instructor - for those teaching CIW Object-Oriented Analysis and Design content.

o Master CIW Enterprise Developer

PREREQUISITES

Candidates must complete the following prerequisites prior to sitting the Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML (IBM 1D0-438 or 1D0-538) exam:

• CIW Certification Agreement.

This simple on-line agreement needs to be completed only once, but is necessary for CIW Certification Central to ship CIW certificates (CIW Associate, CIW Professional or Master CIW certificates) to candidates who pass the required CIW certification exam(s).

• CIW Associate certificate.

Passing the CIW Foundations exam 1D0-410 is required for those candidates seeking Master CIW Enterprise Developer certification designation.

It is recommended, but not required, that students seeking Master CIW Enterprise Developer status take (and pass) the CIW Web Languages (JavaScript Fundamentals and Perl Fundamentals), CIW Application Developer and Sun Java Programmer exams prior to taking the Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML (IBM 1D0-438 or 1D0-538) exam.

EXAM INFORMATION

The candidate is responsible for learning the content and achieving a passing score on the Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML (IBM 1D0-438 or 1D0-538) exam. Comments regarding course delivery should be referred to the training company that delivered the course.

Each delivery of the Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML (IBM 1D0-438 or 1D0-538) exam is subject to the following:

The examination period will be 135 minutes.

Many items require interpretation of analysis and design diagrams related to realistic scenarios. Some items may extend or have a context different from that shown in the provided exhibits. In such cases, the context in the item text should be assumed to take precedence over the context depicted or inferred in the exhibit.

o Upon completing the exam, you will be issued a score report from the testing center. Your score report will be branded with the IBM logo.

Upon passing the Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML (IBM 1D0-438 or 1D0-538) exam, you will not be issued a certificate from CIW or IBM. This exam is only one of multiple exams required for various certifications (CIW and IBM) and does not by itself culminate in a certificate. Your score report is your only official written record. Do not lose your score report. If asked, provide a photocopy of your score report to IBM or CIW.

SKILLS MEASURED

Skills measured in the 1D0-438 or 1D0-538 exam include but are not limited to the following:

o Apply iterative and incremental processes.

o Schedule project activities based on use cases.

o Trace requirements both forward and backward through OOAD artifacts.

o Utilize use cases to drive other project activities.

o Apply appropriate OOAD activities to a given situation, based on strengths and weaknesses.

o Control and coordinate interfaces between packages.

o Organize project team responsibilities based on OOAD artifacts.

o Identify skills and resources needed to write use cases.

o Identify actors for a system.

o Identify use cases from a requirements document and/or domain expert, and extract business rules for a domain.

o Develop and interpret a use case model using UML notation.

o Write use cases that focus on a problem domain.

o Write use cases using terminology of a target audience.
